| Resume
Preparation... |
| |
| Ø |
Do not assume
that the reader will know your skills, experience level, or
education. |
| Ø |
State what you offer a
company that would make you a valuable asset. |
| Ø |
Provide information as to
problems solved and accomplishments in as quantitative manner as
possible (i.e., increased production by 15% while reducing costs by
10%). |
| Ø |
Make the resume easy to
read (dates, position, major responsibilities, and accomplishments
in chronological order). |
| Ø |
If there are frequent job
changes without progression, then explain if there are mitigating
circumstances (i.e., two consecutive startup companies that went
bankrupt). |
| Ø |
Remember that the purpose
of the resume is to obtain an interview; therefore, the resume
should contain enough information to entice the employer to
interview you. |

| Interview
Recommendations... |
| |
| Extensive
guidance and recommended activities involving preparation, actions, and
follow-up for job interviews exist and these are best provided by the
recruiter to the candidate; however, the items below just represent some
of the more important considerations for job interviews. |
| Ø |
Always dress appropriately (ask your recruiter what the appropriate attire would be for that particular employer
- dress, business casual, etc.) |
| Ø |
Arrive approximately 5 minutes prior to your appointment, but to be safe be in the area at least 30 to 45 minutes prior
so you can relax at
a nearby coffee shop and review your resume history and notes for the interview. |
| Ø |
Present a high energy and motivated appearance in your attitude, speech, and body language. |
| Ø |
Make your responses complete, but don’t ramble and don’t dominate the interview. |
| Ø |
Know whom you need to make eye contact with during the interview. |
| Ø |
Be prepared to answer the "suicide" questions. |
| Ø |
Know and impart what you can do specifically for the employer. |
| Ø |
If you want the job, be certain to express an interest in it and in the next step of the process. |
| Ø |
Listen to your recruiter and follow his/her guidance as to how best to present yourself. |
|
| |

to client organizations. |
| Ø |
